B-girl Teena Marie presents her solo work exploring the gender roles in the b-boy/b-girl scene, commercial hip hop and contemporary society.  Interacting with video using original hip hop dance styles of b-girling and rocking combined with freestyle elements, Teena Marie takes a fresh look at the idea of equality between the sexes.

Teena Custer aka B-girl Teena Marie was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and is currently a freelance dance artist based in Columbus, Ohio. While she grew up in Pittsburgh free styling in clubs and on the street, B-girl Teena Marie has been battling and paying her dues in the hip hop dance scene both nationally and internationally since 2002.  She has won b-girl battles such as Underground Movement 5 in Cleveland, Enter the Cypha I, and was seen on an episode of MTV’s MADE.
