World premiere of Blaze    

Street dance, one of the most popular dance styles today, explodes onto the West End stage this spring with the brand new show Blaze at the Peacock Theatre from Thursday 11 to Sunday 28 March 2010. Making its world premiere in London, Blaze features some of the world's best DJs, B-Boys and street dancers, mixing nightclub vibes with West End production values in a high-energy theatrical show of non-stop dance.

The show is directed by West End director and choreographer Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia, Sister Act), and features some of the best street dancers and breakers in the world including Tommy Frazén and Lizzie Gough of the BBC1 TV series So You Think You Can Dance. The new stage show also brings together the hottest choreographic talent in the world, including Mike Song (America's Best Dance Crew), Kenny Wormald (2009 MTV Video Music Awards Michael Jackson tribute), and Lyle Beniga (feature film Fame).

Finding inspiration from the US hip hop scene of the 80s, street dance fuses many different niche styles including breakdance, popping, locking, krumping, and is heavily improvised. The brand new stage show Blaze sees these dance influences blended with an exciting soundtrack and eye-catching set design created by Es Devlin (set designer for Kanye West, Mika, Take That, Pet Shop Boys and the upcoming Lady Gaga tour).

Street dance has seen a significant rise in popularity on stage, at music festivals and on reality TV shows such as Britain's Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing, and has captured the imagination of a whole new fan base. Blaze perfectly taps into this cultural phenomenon and guarantees to delight street dance enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
